Effect of Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus on growth performance, gut microbial flora and digestive enzymes activities in Tor grypus (Karaman, 1971)

In this study, two main probiotics (Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus) were isolated from the intestine of Tor grypus and their effects on growth performance, gut microbial flora and digestive enzymes activities (i.e., α-amylase, lipase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, and alkaline phosphatase) of Tor grypus (Karaman, 1971) were determined. Juveniles of T. grypus (n...

[Influence of natural gut flora on immune response].

Our intestines are habitat for trillions of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and eukaryotes, known as microbiota. They are indispensable for our well-being due to their metabolic activities. Microbiota digests complex plant polysaccharides, which are normally unprocessed by humans; as well it retrieves other essential nutrients. It is well established that microbiota is crucial for prop...

The Effect of Neurohormonal Factors, Epigenetic Factors, and Gut Microbiota on Risk of Obesity

Molecular, cellular, and epidemiologic findings suggest that neurohormonal, epigenetic, and microbiologic mechanisms may influence risk for obesity by interacting with socioenvironmental factors. Homeostatic and nonhomeostatic neural controls of energy predispose people to obesity, and this predisposition may be exaggerated by the influence of media, marketing, and sleep patterns. Epigenetic ge...

Leishmania, causing zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis (ZCL) in the Old World are mainly transmitted by the predominant sand fly vector, Phlebotomus papatasi. To date, there is no efficient control measure or vaccine ava...
